A few classmates care about a reunion. Those that have never cared or bothered to attend are the ones that make organizing one a nightmare. If you have never served on a reunion commitee, it is a nightmare. Lets have a show of hands on who has worked on a reunion. My guess its less than ten classmates. I havent read anywhere that only the "locals" can plan, organize and put a reunion together. So you "out of towners" pick a theme, organize and let the " locals" know when and where to party. The "locals" that care have done their share now its someone else's turn.

Well I guess you really gave it to us (out of towners) I have done little to organize a reunion-but I do know from talking to Sophie just how much work there is in planning one and my hat goes off to all of you who have done this hectic job-you have all done a wonderful job and somehow pulled things off very well in the end.As I told Bob I would help out as much as I can but I have no idea where to begin since I've never done anything like that before,As for the locals that never attend-shame on them-we were all united as friends and classmates for many years and are all getting along in age.Reunions only bring back wonderful memories of years gone by-remember the water gun fights we had in History class and study hall?? Those are the kind of things that come back to me.I would be happy to get as many people together no matter we would gather. It just seems to me that it would be easier for a local to take oare of it since thats where everyone roots are at and maybe easier to track starting from N.F.I sure hope we can all get together and agree on something to get this thing in motion.
Bob,
I agree the planning and preparation always falls upon the same individuals, but I think they really get into it at some point. The rewards for seeing old friends is well worth the effort & hard work involved. Again you must admit living several hundred miles away is also a heavy burden in the reunion planning. Being a simple old fashioned working man like yourself, I had a great time at Roby Lee's in 2003 over a few drinks. I don't need or want anything overly formal, just to visit old Friends again.
Just my opinion, Thanks for your input!
Why don't we consider having a sock hop next year the same weekend as the classmates reunion & invite all the classes from 1963 back to 1958 (which will be the class honored at the classmates reunion).
We never seem to get enough of our classmates to come to a reunion, so this would not only give the ones from our class a chance to visit & have a good time, but also meet & get reaquainted with some members of previous classes.
Do you remember that when we went to the sock hops we paid according to the color of socks we wore and we checked in our shoes? I think that would be fun or am I just getting old!!! I also like the idea of dressing like we did in the late 50s with the girls wearing the poodle skirts & the boys with their jeans pegged & t-shirt sleeves rolled up to hold the cigarettes. How about this idea??? Give some input.
If enough people like it, we could work out all the details on how to do it.

marlene lesho Hey I must be getting old too cuz the idea of a sock hop sounds fun to me too.I dont know how much hopping everyone would do tho!!ha-ha.What ever we do I sure hope its at the community center again-loved it!!
I agree our Reunion attendance needs lots of help, maybe inviting the 1962 and/or 1964 class would make a better event. As for the 50's clothing, after 60 additional pounds I doubt they will still fit & I don't wear SOCKS!
Carol Statti I guess I must be older then most in the class of 63 because I can't imagine a bunch of 60 plus seniors in poodle skirts and bobbie socks. Nix on the dress up guys. We had wonderful times in the 60's and still have wonderful memories of the music, cars, classmates, but that was then and this is now. One more thing then I will shup up(well maybe)the class of 63 was and is the class of 63. If only 10 people show up it is still the class of 63, not a mixture of classes. I don't care about numbers for attendance, I care about those who attend, my class of 63. I didn't mean to turn this into a sermon, but the collection plate stops in Va. From an old shit on a hill. Carol S.
I agree with you Carol, the Class of 63 is the unique group of whomever is able to attend. The Community Center is an excellent place, as it brings back those treasured memories. We ought to maintain the integrity of our Class without blending it with other classes. It may sound and be a bit selfish, but there's some things you just got to hold on to. You said it quite well. I hope everyone is in good health.
Oh Boy, I just love a good DEBATE, but where are all the locals? Bob, Gary, Ed, John, Larry, Karen, Sophie, Judy, Shirley, Janet & anyone else I might have missed, lets hear from someone still in NF!
