Seems one of my anti-hacking modules was outdated. It was flagging everyone as being "bad guys" including me. Ironic that a module designed to keep the site running was the cause of its temporary demise. Anyway, just to clarify, I have not and will not ban anyone without some kind of warning, which is something I hope I won't ever have a need to do. Happy Surfing.
